We've actually got both cards in our portfolio right now because we've been hoarding sign-up bonuses. When all is said an done, I'll probably keep the Reserve over the Preferred. For me, the 1.5 cents per point on travel is what really tips the scales. On 100,000 points, the difference between the Preferred and Reserve is $250 travel.
Love that 1.5x...
Of course, not all of our points will be spent on travel in the portal, but combine that difference with the difference in earning rates (3x vs 2x dining and travel), the Priority Pass membership, and the fact that the $450 Reserve fee is effectively $150 after the travel credit, and it's hard to turn down the Reserve.
