Before we had a kid and had to work around school schedules, the first week of December (or a tad later, if Thanksgiving is late) was one of our favorite times to visit Disney World. The holiday season is well in gear and you’ll avoid crowds (because, again, kids have school).
As always, compare package discounts with room-only options paired with discount tickets.
Some quick commentary—I’m always a bit frustrated to see deals like this shopping and dining card promo. Maybe they want to keep the profit on the merchandise and food, maybe they want something with some marketing zip, but is it really worth the friction of giving people some clunky card instead of a good ol’ fashioned discount?
I think the answer for Disney is “yes” and the reason is quite simple—small discounts sound better in terms of food and merchandise. This is one promo card per room. A guest getting the $100 promo card will easily spend $600 per night on 3 nights at a deluxe resort, plus around $700 per ticket, for a total of at least $2500. A $100 promo card is something, but it’s at best about a 4% discount. It’s just not the type of discount that turns heads. Phrasing it in terms of food and merchandise allows you to look past the percentage and at the hard product—the food you’ll be eating and the merch you’ll be buying ($100 of merch is not nothing, even if $100 of food in the parks is not a ton).
