Disney announced on Tuesday that a new table service restaurant will be coming to Toy Story Land. Roundup Rodeo BBQ will be a table service restaurant.

Using three cardboard boxes cut and taped together, Andy has created a new rodeo arena using some of his favorite toys, games, and play sets. And while some pieces are definitely western-themed, what makes this rodeo special is the broad assortment of toys that have been brought together to create a fun, colorful mashup-atmosphere that only a child could create.
So…more of the same in Toy Story Land—a “mashup” with lots of color and whimsy and little attention to maintaining a consistent narrative (because the mind of a child rarely does so…except in, say, the awesome beginning of Toy Story 3…but I digress…) We can take a look at the concept art:

You can’t glean too much from that. It looks like it might be family style, so there’s a bit of Whispering Canyon vibes in there. I’m not sure what to make of these massive figures. The art is expanded upon as Disney’s description continues:
Once inside, you’ll be surrounded by all of the rodeo festivities in-action as well as western town and train station play sets. And you just might spot some of your favorite Disney•Pixar characters scattered throughout the restaurant in the form of toys and game pieces including a toy version of Jessie riding on the back of a Trixie pull-toy and unique toy versions of Bo Peep and her sheep, all who appear to be performing in the rodeo together.
This immersive restaurant will surround guests with a kaleidoscope of toys, games, and playsets, providing yet another unique, fun, family-friendly dining experience that could only be had in Toy Story Land.
Okay, that sounds a little cooler. Honestly, I don’t really understand much of what this is trying to convey, but it does sound ambitious. It’s particularly ambitious when you consider that the mix of immersion, kids, and food sounds like a recipe for a lot of sticky, unsanitary surfaces.
It’s expected to be built to the right of the current land entrance, behind the giant “Welcome Woody” (as I call him, pictured at the top of this post) (H/T Disney Tourist Blog). Here’s a satellite view:

.Generally, we’re not fans of the table service restaurants in the parks (there are exceptions). We think that Woody’s Lunch Box—although not the best quick service restaurant at Hollywood Studios—is sufficient for the size and quality of Toy Story Land overall.
That said, what this all really comes down to is the next phase of Hollywood Studios. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (aka Star Wars Land) is almost upon us. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be upon us…eventually. And a full-day park needs a good range of table service options.
No date has been announced for the new restaurant, but we’ll keep you updated as we hear more!
